Peter Wilson(KIA) (1876?-1916)

Swords Coy, 5th Batt. Dublin Brigade (known as Fingal Brigade)

Peter Wilson was 40 years old (approximately) at the time of the Rising. He resided at North St. Swords. He joined the Irish Volunteers when they were first established at the Rotunda Rink in 1913 and became a member of the Swords Coy, 5^th Batt. Dublin Brigade. He went out Easter Monday 1916 with his comrades from the Swords Coy and met with the other units of the Fingal Brigade at Knocksedan Bridge. He was part of the draft sent from Fingal to the G.P.O. on Tuesday to augment garrisons in the City and from there he was sent to the Mendicity Institution on Ushers Island which was under the Command of Capt. Sean Heuston. When the Mendicity garrison surrendered on Wednesday 26^th of Easter Week, Peter was shot dead by troops overlooking the yard to the rear of the building where the garrison had lined up with the white flag of surrender. He was a road worker by trade.

Peter Wilson died 26^th April, 1916 and is buried in the grounds of Dr. Steeven’s Hospital Dublin.

Shlóg sé Luan Cásca, 24 Aibreán 1916, le comrádaithe ó Chomplacht Shoird agus bhuail siad le haonaid eile de Bhriogáid Fhine Gall ag Droichead Chnoc Siáin, beagnach dhá mhíle taobh thoir de Sord.

Bhí sé i mbuíon a seoladh go dtí Ard-Oifig an Phoist sa Phríomhchathair ar an Máirt chun garastúin na cathrach a threisiú. Seoladh ar aghaidh é go dtí Institiúid an Déirceachais ar Oileán Uiséir a bhí i lámha an Chaptaein Seán Heuston agus Óglaigh ó Chomplacht D. Nuair a ghéill Heuston ar an gCéadaoin, 26 Aibreán, lámhach agus mharaigh naoscaire Peter, agus é ina sheasamh i líne lena chomrádaithe faoin mbratach bhán ar chúl na hInstitiúide. Tá sé curtha i dtailte Ospidéil Dr Steevens (cóngarach do Stáisiún Heuston), Baile Átha Cliath.
